Why Creative
Dance?
Event Horizon
Dance works with children to help them to express themselves creatively through music and movement. Dance is a wonderful way
for students to communicate emotions and ideas. The goal of Event Horizon Dance is to not only to inspire new artists but
to create better thinkers and problem solvers. A dance education benefits the students by stimulating their minds through
exercise and movement, and builds strong problem solving skills and self confidence. Not only do we follow the mandate of
the Ontario curriculum guidelines, but we also connect to the entire school curriculum.
Our workshops fit
easily into daily school routines. We require a 15 min. set up time and an hour time slot for each workshop. 4 workshops fit
easily into a school day. The gym should be made available. It’s the best way for students to
move around without feeling inhibited by space constraints. The drums can be very loud, so it’s best to keep them away
from the classrooms.
Teachers are welcome to join in, the work is easy to learn, each school will
be provided with a detailed lesson plan. (recording specifically designed for a creative movement class.) There are several
workshop packages available, however we can design programs to suit individual requirements. If you need more information
please contact us.
For teachers, we offer
a comprehensive breakdown of the art form and include detailed instructions on how to create unique lessons from what you
already know outside of dance. Event Horizon Dance will lead
teachers through movement lessons showing how dance is educational on many levels, including ways to explore creative movement.
By introducing new concepts about dance, we demonstrate lessons that can be taught in the classroom, if the gymnasium is not
available. Event Horizon Dance provides teachers with written lesson plans
that coincide with the required daily physical activities (DPA).
